Tool Steel

Tool Steel

Tool steels are characterized by high hardness, resistance to abrasion, and good resistance to softening at elevated temperatures. These alloys are commonly utilized in the Tool & Die industry which ICAST has proudly served for more than 15 years.  Our customers design and manufacture medium and large Class-A and Class-B metal stamping dies. We are TIER 1 suppliers to  industry leaders in automotive operations, as well as other independent die manufacturers. We provide custom, precision, high-strength, tool steel and alloy steel near-net-shape castings utilized for trimming and forming on prototype, tryout and production stamping dies. We are proficient in casting all major tool steel alloys common to the Tool & Die industry including ASTM A681 : A2, D2 and S7.

These alloys are commonly utilized in the tool & die industry.

Material selection is critical in product development. ICAST can consult with you to identify the proper casting alloy for your application.

Properties  :

  • Resistance to abrasion and deformation
  • Ability to hold a cutting edge even at elevated temperatures
  • Tool steels can be “worked” at both cold and elevated temperatures
  • Temperature resistance
  • Shock resistance, the do not easily fracture when a force is applied
